Weekly Senior TaiChi Class

posted December 10, 2024 by Leo Dai

Every Saturday morning, this group of world-class Tai Chi athletes from the USA TaiChi Foundation Youth Club gather at Sunrise Senior Living in Cupertino to teach Tai Chi to the residents there. The class has been popular throughout the building and has received a lot of praise.

Tai Chi is a mind-body exercise that originated in China. It involves slow, gentle movements that are performed in a flowing, continuous manner. Tai Chi has been shown to improve balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination. It can also help to reduce stress and anxiety.

Teaching together with his teammates, who are all part of the Tai Chi Team USA under the supervision of their coach Yunjian Zou at Omei Academy, the club chair Leo said that he is happy to see that the seniors are enjoying the class and benefiting from Tai Chi.

Weekly Tai Chi classes have started at the Las Gatos public library since Sunday, January 12, 2025. These Tai Chi classes are the continuous series after the successful summer workshop at the library. Due to the excellent feedback from the participants, the Los Gatos library has been very glad to host the Tai Chi classes and distribute the class agenda in the local community.

Adults and seniors gathered at the library to join our Tai Chi party. Some of them are even returning participants from the past summer. Our club members introduced and taught Tai Chi to help the participants improve their inner balance and health. We look forward to the future sessions and a healthier and happier community!
